Mary

After nearly three years of attempting to reobtain her lost birth certificate from California, Mary was finally able to receive it in the mail after working with Elevate Connections for the last several months. The process of receiving a birth certificate – especially from another state – is an often time-consuming, frustrating process. Long phone call conversations, back and forth communication, and the relay of information and necessary documentation between parties makes it especially difficult for our neighbors to navigate on their own, even more so if they don’t have access to a phone or a mailing address. Now that Mary has her birth certificate, she can renew her driver’s license, begin the search for more sustainable housing, and work on recovering financially from the fines accumulated for not having updated identification documents. Mary says she can “finally get her life back!” We can’t wait to see how this milestone for Mary will help her continue on the path towards reaching her full potential.
