Maranda’s Story
My story is one of strength, struggle and redemption. My battle began with a simple, yet common desire to lose weight. In my search for fast results, I was introduced to methamphetamines. I believed that I could handle it, but the drug quickly took over. Within months, I found myself in the grip of addiction. My health and life were unraveling; however, the most devastating blow came when I lost custody of my children.
I was determined to not let that be the end of my story. I entered a recovery program. Through hard work, discipline and support, I began to rebuild my life. A big part of that journey was the Elevate Rides program. A step I never imagined would change my life so dramatically. With no access to an affordable car, the scooter became my lifeline. It was my only means of transportation and it opened the door to employment opportunities that had previously been out of reach.
With my new scooter, I secured a job at Capital Vacations. Thanks to my commitment and growing reliability, I was promoted to Owner Services. I have now been sober for over 18 months, and in a show of determination, I have been doubling up on my scooter payments to pay it off early.
My supervisor, Robin East, at Capital Vacations is very pleased with me. Robin told Elevate Branson, “Maranda is the best agent that we have hired in the last two years. She takes constructive criticism, is always on time, pays attention in training, asks important questions and is such a wonderful example to the other employees.”
My journey didn’t stop there. I recently purchased a car, preparing for the moment I regain custody of my children – a goal I work towards every day. My scooter gave me more than transportation. It gave me stability, dignity and a way to rebuild my life. It helped me earn back trust, independence and a future filled with hope for myself and my family.
